The Best Activities for Divorced Men

STAY ACTIVE

Going fishing with family members, friends or even yourself, is a great way to stay active and get yourself out of the house. Also you will feel better doing things that help you relax and make you happy. There’s nothing better than a day at the lake just listening to the wind with your line in the water. Even if you don’t catch anything, it is very therapeutic doing things that you enjoy while escaping your normal routine.

Spend Time With Your Kids

If you have children, make sure that you schedule time and activities to do with them.  Children, as well as parents, feel the stress and confusion of separation and divorce. Many kids feel angry, sad and frustrated about the prospect of their parents splitting up for good and are uncertain about what life will be like after divorce. Your ability to communicate successfully with your child , meet their needs, for safety and support take care of yourself, and maintain a civil relationship with your ex will have a positive effect on your child and will be the best thing for everyone.

Exercise

Physical activity stimulates various brain chemicals that may leave you feeling happier and more relaxed than you were before you worked out. You’ll also look better and feel better when you exercise regularly, which can boost your confidence and improve your self-esteem. Regular physical activity can even help prevent depression.

Exercise can decrease ‘stress hormones’ like cortisol, and increase endorphins, your body’s ‘feel-good’ chemicals, giving your mood a natural boost. (This is the chemistry behind a ‘runner’s high’.)

Physical activity itself can take your mind off of your problems and either redirect it on the activity at hand or get you into a zen-like state. Exercise usually involves a change of scenery as well, either taking you to a gym, a dojo, a boxing ring, a park, a scenic mountain, a biking trail or a neighborhood sidewalk, all of which can be pleasant, low-stress places.

Cook Something New

Everyone loves pizza, so why not learn a pizza recipe. It’s ironic to think that pizza, originating as an Italian peasant dish, has become as American as apple pie. Americans consume 350 slices of pizza every second.

Pepperoni Pizzapizza

Ingredients
• Cooking spray
• Pizza Dough (Pillsbury has 2 versions)
• 2 teaspoons olive oil
• Pizza Sauce (Prego works great)
• 1 1/2 cups (6 ounces) shredded mozzarella cheese
• 2 tablespoons grated fresh Parmesan cheese
• 2 ounces sliced pepperoni (turkey or regular)

Preparation

Position oven rack in the middle. Preheat oven to 500°.

Remove Pizza Dough. Place on baking sheet. Brush oil over dough. Bake on oven rack at 500° for 8 minutes. Remove from oven.

Spread Pizza Sauce in an even layer over crust, leaving a 1/4-inch border. Sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan. Arrange pepperoni in an even layer on top of cheese. Bake on middle rack an additional 10 minutes or until crust is golden brown and cheese melts. Cut into 12 wedges.

Makes 6 servings (serving size: 2 wedges), enjoy!
